Mining News Agency -According to the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the official data showed that Indonesia`s domestic 13 nickel smelters have begun operation as end of October 2017.
Mining News -The main production included nickel pig iron, ferronickel and Ni-MH compound, because of the use of blast furnace smelting technology, so that raw material costs affected the operation significantly.
Indonesia said the investment in the construction of the smelter in Indonesia was about US$5.03 billion and 13 companies have already started to operate the smelters, which produced about 598,000 tons of ferronickel iron and nickel pig iron, as well as 64,000 tons of nickel matte, the overall the nickel smelting volume reached about 34 million tons.
