Mining News Pro - Austin Engineering will provide truck bodies to NRW Holdings’ Civil and Mining division and Perenti Global as part of new contracts between the companies.
Austin received contracts for 27 truck bodies and other equipment including five ore chutes and three water tanks in August, while also inking a range of international deals in Indonesia, USA and Chile.
Excited by the new business, one contract has Austin chief executive officer and managing director David Singleton particularly thrilled.
“We are buoyed to have recorded such a strong month of contract wins around the globe, including a new customer in NRW Holdings. We are delivering the highest quality mining equipment with proven efficiency gains for customers and at competitive pricing. We are expecting strong order flow to continue through this half of the year,” he said.
The contract wins amounted to $30 million for August and also included a $4.5 million underground mine products contract with PT Freeport Indonesia’s operations at its Grasberg gold and copper mine.
Austin will supply five underground mine chute structures to the Tembagapura, Papua operation.
The Freeport contract represents Austin’s expanding global desire.
“The mine chute structure contract with Freeport Indonesia reflects Austin’s increasing focus on new products and adjacent value streams. This is in line with our global strategy to employ more innovation and technology-led design solutions for our customers, and add further products to our suite in coming years,” Singleton said.
Austin will manufacture the equipment for its new local contracts at its Kewdale facility in Perth, while Freeport’s underground mine chutes will be created at Austin’s Batam facility in Indonesia.
“Under our strategy, we have commenced manufacturing upgrades to our Kewdale facility to improve quality and efficiency, with upgrades to the Batam facility to follow,” Singleton said.
In Chile, Austin has won a $10 million, three-year mining equipment support contract with mining company KGHM for the supply of truck bodies and buckets to its Sierra Gorda open-pit copper and molybdenum mine.
