Mining News Pro - Ampcontrol, LAVO and Boundary Power have created a strategic partnership to develop power storage solutions for data centres as well as industrial and mining applications.
The agreement will combine Ampcontrol’s electric engineering, LAVO’s hydrogen storage patents and Boundary Power’s knowledge of stand-alone power systems (SAPS).
Ampcontrol chief executive officer and Boundary Power director Rod Henderson said the agreement held great promise for the futures of a number of industries.
“Ampcontrol has a long history in the development of innovative products and Boundary Power possesses industry leading experience in utility-grade stand-alone power solutions,” Henderson said.
“Our partnership with LAVO is the continuation of our commitment to finding the best solutions to the energy challenges facing remote areas and energy intensive industries.”
Ampcontrol is Australia’s largest privately-owned electric engineering company which is advancing innovations across the energy sector.
LAVO chief executive officer Alan Yu said the results of this partnerships could fit in well to the needs of remote mining applications.
“LAVO’s hydrogen storage technology is ideally suited for integration with remote stand-alone power systems and for other containerised and mobile power solutions,” Yu said.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Ampcontrol and Boundary Power to explore the options for wider use of our products.”
The partnership will run over the next two years, focusing on hydrogen storage and other zero-carbon products in various sites and applications.
Ampcontrol’s services are available worldwide, owing to its 850 employees, six member companies and 53-year history
LAVO was established much later, in 2020, by Providence Asset Group and the University of New South Wales, to challenge conventional power management solutions.
Boundary Power is a collaboration between Ampcontrol and Horizon power – Australia’s online vertically integrated electricity company.
