Mining News Pro - NMDC is expected to commission its steel plant in Nagarnar by the end of this fiscal year, Mr. N Baijendra Kumar, Chairman and Managing Director, NMDC said.
According to Mining News Pro -We are in the completion stages of Nagarnar steel plant and will be able to start our blast furnace in another three-four months of this financial year. All the linkages have been worked out,” he said, adding, steel production is likely to begin from June of next year.
On NMDC`s disinvestment plan, Kumar said, "The government has put it on hold for the time being."
NMDC is commissioning greenfield steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh with a capacity of 3 MnT.
The company is also India`s largest iron ore miner with annual production of 35.5 MnT in FY18. The company has its iron ore mines in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka. NMDC plans to increase its iron ore production to 43-45 MnT in FY19 and further increasing to 67 MnT by 2022 as per its guidelines released.
