As per the data released by IMIDRO, Major Iranian steelmakers exported around 3,107,000 MT of Steel during first five months of current Persian year (21 Mar-22 Aug’18). Export increased by around 5% Y-o-Y. Standalone during the fifth month export was noted to be around 483,510 MT, registered a downfall of 24% Y-o-Y.
US Sanctions has restricted Iranian steel export as many of the importers have stopped importing steel from Iran. Also, one of the major cause of decrease in export during the current month is believed to be the lack of vessel availability in Iranian port. Due to US Sanctions, very few shipping companies are operating in Iran.
Khouzestan Steel Company (KSC) was by far the largest exporter during the period, the company exported around 1,110,466 MT steel during the period. The company registered a downfall of around 5% Y-o-Y. Standalone during the fifth month, export was noted to be around 151,458 down by 36% Y-o-Y.
It is to be noted that KSC recorded nil billet exports in 5th month of current Persian year, as per data released by IMIDRO. Major steel products exported by KSC were Slab (124,638 MT) and Bloom (26,820 MT).
Mobarekeh Steel Company (MSC) was the second largest exporter of steel during the period, the company exported 602,075 MT in 5 months, registered a growth of 65% Y-o-Y. During the fifth month, company exported 142,462 MT.
Major steel products exported by MSC were HRC (87,418 MT), Slab (50,988 MT) and other finished flat steel (4,056 MT).
Hormozgan Steel Company (HOSCO) secured the third largest position of steel exporter in Iran exporting 373,549 MT Slabs during the first five months, exports were down by 15% Y-o-Y. HOSCO didn’t exported any slab in the current month.
Esfahan Steel Company (ESCO) exported 463,076 MT of steel during the five months of current Persian year. Exports were down by 21% Y-o-Y.
Major product exported by ESCO were Ingot (49,705 MT), rebar (25,122 MT), followed by beam (17,520 MT) and wire rod (1,125 MT).
Other major exporters includes South Kaveh Steel (405,000 MT) and Khorasan Steel (107,445 MT).
