Mining News - The head of the East Azerbaijan Mine Engineering Organization said that 95 percent of the mines in the province are held by non-specialists and unfamiliar to mining and geology

Farhad Malek Ghassemi said that these mines are more in the hands of people working in the market and the villagers, adding: "In the new year attempts have been made to grant mining licenses through the cadastral system for applicants who use the specialist in this field.

He stated that there are 400 mines in East Azerbaijan, saying that there are 36 types of mineral deposits in the province, and most of the mines in the province are semi-active.

The head of the East Azerbaijan Mine Engineering Organization, pointing out that the province is ranked first in terms of mineral deposits and third in terms of extraction and exploitation, said: 92 percent of the mines in the province were 4th and more in the production of sand and Sand, stone and lime, and 3 Sungun Copper Mines, Sufian Cement and Kaolin Zenoz are among the first grade mines.

Malek Ghassemi, saying that all active mines must be technically in charge, said that now about 182 mines in the province are not technically responsible and these mines are regarded as inactive by the organization.

Referring to the issuance of 727 licenses for qualified people by the organization, he said that the organization provides training and practical courses for these people.

The head of the East Azerbaijan Mine Engineering Organization said that at present, 2,950 people are members of this organization. Of these, 58 have a doctoral degree, 587 undergraduate degrees, and the rest are undergraduate.

Malek Ghassemi added that the members of this organization are graduates of engineering, geology, surveying, metallurgy and processing industries.

Referring to the holding of the 16th Annual Meeting of the General Board of the Iranian Mining Organization in Tabriz on July 11-13, this year, on the occasion of the 2018 Tabriz event, the members of the board of directors of the engineering organization of the 31 provinces and senior executives participate in the event.

Malek Ghassemi continued: The selection of the members of the Central Council of the Iranian Engineering Organization, which is held every three years, is the program of the meeting. He described this summit as an opportunity for activists and owners of the mineral industry of the province to introduce the region`s products and potentials at the national level and said: "The summit is hoping that this summit will provide a boom for the province`s mining sector.
