Mining News Agency - According to the report, Brazilian state, Minas Gerais decided to fine of US$37.73 million because Angelo American caused the pollution from one of its mines, Minas-Rio, as the result of leak of pipelines.
Mining News - Among them, the leaks of the pipelines in the same pipeline occurred two times last month on March 12th and 29th. The spills along with iron-ore damaged the water resources.
Angelo American was not only fined and came to a halt of 90 days, but also took actions to clean pollutions and talks to the residents who may be effected. It was still under the investigation on how much to be fined for the second leak.
