According to Mining News Pro - The project is a greenfield mine development for Rio Tinto Iron Ore in the East Pilbara region.

Rio Tinto last year announced a $3.5 billion investment in Koodaideri, which is poised to become the company’s next major Pilbara hub, combining advanced automation and digitised technology.

The mine requires a 170-kilometre rail spur to connect it to the existing Rio Tinto Iron Ore rail network that lies in the state’s northwest.

This will allow for the transportation of the iron ore product to either the Dampier or Cape Lambert ports.

The contract will create 200 new jobs with the scope of the project to include 100 kilometres of rail formation earthworks, culverts, bridge construction, access roads and level crossings.

Clough chief executive officer and managing director Peter Bennett welcomed the opportunity to continue the company’s expansion into the West Australian iron ore industry.

“We are excited with the opportunity to work with Rio Tinto Iron Ore to deliver its vision for the Koodaideri project as we continue to grow our presence in Western Australia’s iron ore developments,” he said.
