Brazil: Vale Stood the Largest Exporter of Iron Ore During Jan-Sep`18

According to Mining News Pro -Recent trade statistics released by Brazil Customs show that the country has exported total of 289.87 MnT of iron ore (including pellet) for the duration Jan-Sep`18, up 3% on yearly basis as compared to Jan-Sep`17 at 281.37 MnT.

World`s second largest exporter of iron ore - Brazil has recorded an increase of 6% in export volumes to 33.90 MnT in Sep`18 as compared to Sep`17 exports at 31.93 MnT, according to trade statistics released by Brazil customs. Amidst stricter regulations in China, buyers are prefers low alumina high- grade Brazilian iron ore (Carajas fines) resulting in increased exports from Brazil.

Average iron ore prices up 13% in Sep`18

The average price of iron ore exported from Brazil for Sep`18 witnessed at USD 52/MT, increase of 13% on monthly basis as against USD 46.1/MT in Aug`18. Demand for high grade iron ore in China is expected to sustain amid China`s steel capacity cuts and stringent environmental norms.

Vale stood the largest exporter for Jan-Sep`18

The country has recorded about 277.99 MnT of total exports from its major miners.
Vale, the world`s largest iron ore producer exported around 248.59 MnT iron ore for Jan-Sept`18, followed by CSN at 20.12 MnT, and Anglo at 3.19 MnT.

Thyassenkrupp marked the largest Importer of iron ore during Jan-Aug`18

Thyassenkrupp stood the largest importer of Brazillian iron ore at 8.79 MnT. Arcelor Mittal stood second largest importer at 7.70 MnT followed by Nippon Steel at 6.32 MnT.

Brazillian Samarco, which was once world`s second largest pellet producer bearing pellet capacity of around 30 MnT per year, has been shut since 2015 owing to dam failure. Vale holds 50% stake in Samarco iron ore mines. According to Vale, the mine is expected to resume towards the end of 2018 or early 2019.
