Significant drop in Iranian iron ore exports in the second quarter of 2018

According to Mining News - The exports showed a significant drop of 44 per cent from the previous quarter, from December 21, 2017 to March 20, 201, Jaffari Tehrani.
Increasing demand for high-quality, low-grade iron ore shipments and low-alumina reduces Iran`s exports due to stringent environmental regulations in China.
Exports of the second quarter of this year dropped 36 percent compared to the second quarter of 2017, which amounted to 5 million and 130 thousand tons.
In June, Iran`s exports also increased by 3 percent from the previous month to a million and 170 thousand tons, up from 1 million and 140 thousand tons in May. Iran`s iron ore exports fell 36 percent in June this year, compared to June of the previous year, when it was 1,820,000 tons.

China was the largest importer of Iranian iron ore in the second quarter of 2018, bringing 3 million and 70 thousand tons, accounting for about 94 percent of Iran`s total iron ore.
Malaysia was the second largest importer of iron ore from Iran, and in the second quarter imported 50,000 tons of iron ore, which was steady from the previous quarter.
In June, China was also the largest importer of Iranian iron ore, which imported one million and 120 thousand tons of iron ore, while in May it was one million and 140 thousand tons.
Iran plans to invest in Sangan Mining province of Herat Province, located in the border regions of Iran and Afghanistan, to meet the demand for raw materials.
